Early Years Project - School Day

Primary Department

Classes J1A - J4 - 8.50am - 1.15pm

Classes J5 - J7 - 8.50am -2.45pm

This department is comprised of eight classes - Early Years, J1 to J6 and the pupils are aged between 3 and 11 years old.

The pupils experience a wide variety of activities and subjects based within Nursery Guidelines, Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 of the revised Northern Ireland Curriculum.

Within the Early Years and Primary department staff provide a highly structured teaching environment and use strong visual teaching strategies to provide pupils with a diagnosis of autism, and those with other communication disabilities, with strategies which will later enable them to better integrate and learn with their age peers in classes elsewhere in the school.

Transition to the Secondary Department:

As the Secondary Department is on the same campus there is a smooth transfer to secondary education and an emphasis on ensuring that progress is maintained.
